Luke really loves having books read to him...especially "The Going to Bed Book" here. Good thing he doesn't understand that this story is so silly. It tells the story of all kinds of animals that live on a boat who are getting ready for bed. Matt was reading it to him the other day and when it got to the part about how, after the animals put on their pjs, they all go upstairs to exercise, he screamed across the house, "Chris, why would they exercise before going to bed?!". Honey, I know you are an engineer and need things to make sense, but it IS a kids book.

Crib Update

It's official...Luke loves his crib. He's napped and spent the night in his crib every day and night since Wednesday! Mommy and Daddy have truly enjoyed their sleep, too...nightlight-free.

First nap in the crib...a success!

Up to this point, Luke has been sleeping in a bedside bassinet within arms reach of mommy. I love it more than words and never thought I would see the day when I would be ready to move him into his own room...you know the one we spent loads of time and money preparing? Yes, that one. Well, after a recent resurgence of sleepless nights (shallow sleepers do not sleep well next to loud, tossing and turning adults), I am ready. So far so good as far as naps go...I'm crossing my fingers about tonight...

Whatchu talkin bout, remote control?

Luke's new face...what a strange reaction to the remote control. Do you think he senses its infinite power and wisdom?

So fresh and so clean...

Reaching and Pulling

After weeks of dangling things over Luke's head in anticipation of his reaching for them (akin to watching paint dry), he finally did it! Not with me, of course...but at least this playmat is getting some use now...

Standing tall!

Just this week, Luke has begun to stand with a little help from mom and dad. He loves it so much that anytime we pick him up and bring him in for a cuddle, he stabs us in the tummy with his little man legs...check out those rolls of pure muscle...

Shirt-hair

When I was little, I could be entertained for hours on end with long luxurious shirt-hair. You know, when you pull your shirt up over your head, but stop at the hair line so the sleeves ran down the sides of your head like long tendrils of black, brown, yellow, purple, etc. hair...this continues to be fun for me. Not so much for Luke...poor kid...

The ultimate toys...

Can't you just see his wheels turning..."how. can I fit. the whole. thing. in my mouth..."

Baby's First Cold

Mommy and Luke have come down with their first cold together. Snotty tissues litter the sofa where we sit watching gameshows, bemoaning our horrid condition...

Luke's First Plane Ride

Believe it or not, Luke was a perfect angel on the plane ride to Boston. Maybe he was rendered speechless by the deafening sound of the two other babies who pushed their lungs to the limit FOR FOUR WHOLE HOURS. On the way off the plane, so many people commented on what a good baby he was. For this, he punished mommy and daddy by screaming at the top of his lungs during the epic two hour drive to the Cape...
